yami (pronounced Ee-yah-mee) translates directly to 'My Mothers' or 'The Great Mothers' in Yoruba culture and traditional African philosophy. It represents the sacred, fierce, and protective ancestral power of motherhood. We pair this foundational strength with Grace to bridge the critical care gaps that exist between rigid modern hospital protocols and sacred maternal autonomy.

In enduring honor and legacy of Cyncere McGary, whose warrior spirit guides our fierce commitment to protecting life, Iyami & Grace is proud to establish the Cyncere McGary Silent Protector Scholarship Fund. We believe in diversifying community care and breaking down financial barriers for birthworkers. We are currently developing The Silent Protector Scholarship to help provide financial assistance for foundational certification pathways.

Selection criteria
Fully need-based.
Eligible Pathways
CLC certification, IBCLC pathways, or doula training accredited by any of the three main credentialing bodies (such as DONA, CAPPA, or ICEA/CBI).

Award distribution is strictly dependent on our upcoming fundraising goals.

THE SACRED SANCTUARY BEREAVEMENT FUND
This fund is established as a sacred sanctuary of relief for families navigating the unimaginable. Uniquely structured to provide direct micro-grants when a family faces the tragic loss of a mother or a baby during labor, this fund aims to gently ease the burden of funeral, cremation, or memorial expenses.
We believe no family should carry financial vulnerability while enduring the weight of profound obstetric, maternal, or infant bereavement. Through this fund, a nurturing legacy continues to shelter and support families when they need it most.
